Artist's Comments

Finally finished this! Drew it a month or so back and just got around to coloring it. Weirdly, I did the coloring and shading compulsively within a few days...

My DnD character Sela, a Warforged Paladin in my friend Adrian's campaign. She should be wearing Veteran's armor instead of the cloth armor there, buuuut yeah, no real excuse for that except that this looked prettier. Technically her hammer should attach over her hand, but that boggled my brain, and I prefer the idea of her being able to just detach the hand and screw in the warhammer. Her backpack is also technically attached to her back, so probably the armor ties at the neck or summat.

Reference was used for what a Warforged usually looks like, but there wasn't a ref for a female one that I could find, and the others were examples of huge fighter Warforged, whereas I wanted her more diplomatic and religion based. (I love fighters, but I wanted to try something different for once.) Her shield is supposed to have a painting on it, hence it looking a little different. The painting is her creator's wife and daughter, both deceased.

Drawn in pencil, inked, massively messed with in Adobe PS7. Sela (c) me.

Is the jewel a Docent? Very nice job by the way. I have a female warforged barbarian :)

The line between Madness and Magic is fragile and easily frayed.
One can fall between the cracks, slip through the shadows and meet the denizens of the other side of the universe.
But is that Madness?
Or is it Magic?

I dont think she knows what a docent is. :-P

Bring me my monocle, I want to look rich!

Nope! The jewel's just a plain Gem of Colloquy, which helped her stats out nicely. A warforged barbarian sounds fun...! In another campaign I have a male gnoll artificer. Haven't used him much yet though, so it's interesting seeing how he works out.

She looks like a walking suit of armor. XD; Is that what "warforged" means? I don't recall hearing about this character, though. O_o Maybe you told me, and the concept boggled me so much I couldn't ever get a picture in my mind. In any case, she looks cool. I like her... 'expression'?... in the pic on the left.

On the subject of what warforged aren they are living constructs, similiar to golems, but given self-awareness so that they can make decisions for themselves. They have been recently emancipated in the world of Eberron and after a one hundred year long war, of which they joined the last 30 years of, they are somewhat displaced. Some find their way as mercenaries, while others try to find out what it is to be alive. The construction of new warforged is outlawed as they are sentient creatures, but many suspect that isn't a law that is being abided to. In a D&D campaign, they can occupy any class choice that any other "flesh" race can hold, though some class options seem more noteworthy for them, than some.

I believe in the Sharn City of Towers book, there is a reference or at least a model for a female body design of warforged. She definately "looks" feminine.

I've been messing around with a gestalted female warforged, by the name of Conduit. A mithral body warforged that has levels in Warlock (Complete Arcane) and Binder (Tome of Magic). She uses herself as an aperture for the roads that live between the realms of Eberron and it's orbiting outer plans, such as Dal Quor, Xoriat, Thelanis, and etc.

I have no idea who you are, but thank you? XD Jen explained what warforged were to me as a concept and how they can be played, but not so much the history. ^_^ They're a fascinating existence. :D
