This was made for the little detail shot in "SoM : The Comic". Too lazy to link it. It's supposed to be a painting from the fanfiction "Shades of Mystification" by , buuut I sort of made up a pose and added the red cloth because I was so not in the mood to draw manbits right then. Also, it doesn't have a warning because he's mostly all covered, right? Guys are allowed to show nipples. And thigh. Maybe.
But. Electrical tape! The texture on the wall around the window is from-- and I regret having to type this-- "Eatpoo" textures. They have some fun textures, but... really?
Anyway! This picture was a ton of fun to draw and color. The angle was hard, so that was interesting to attempt, and attempting to give Light a 'sultry' expression without just making him look like his usual crazy Kira self was a challenge I may have failed mainly because I love his Kira self. Did I mention the electrical tape? It was mentioned as part of the painting! I loved making that. It made me grin like a maniac.
So... anything else... oh! The "painting" feel was achieved with a simple texture filter in Adobe. Honestly, it looks like crap without it-- the texture ties everything together. I may start using it more, it was fun. All in all this project was educational and challenging! Nice. I'm gonna go clean some stuff now so my brain doesn't go nuts from staring at a monitor for 12+ hours.
Made in Adobe PS7 with my tablet Zolloft. Time... around four hours? Maybe more? For this part. Light isn't mine, Death Note isn't mine, Shades of Mystification isn't mine. We're good? Good.
It's excellent - just fantastic, you've got it down almost perfectly! The red cloth is a nice touch, it actually suits the picture more than what I think I was imagining - which was something along the lines of total nudity but with everything nicely hidden from view
Thank you so much, I just can't get over the fact that you've spent so much time on some fanart for MY story. My little, insignificant ramble...
It's just brilliant and fabulous and I love it dearly.
Heh, I didn't draw his feet even though they were described in the painting because I reaaaaaally don't like drawing feet-- they're a pain! So I ignored that. Trying to figure out the pose was hard, but fun! I really liked working on these pictures. (I had tried to do the total nudity with nothing showing, but after ten sketches of legs I gave up and just tried for all-out with cloth-- easier for me for some reason...)
Electrical tape still equals colourguard to me. XD
"Little" detail shot? XD I think that embedded picture is a little too big to be called little, honey!
I really liked how you had the texture of this painting feel very different from the rest of the pic around it in SooM: The Comic." (Why I put that here instead of there, I don't know.)
Guys wearing short-shorts do not warrant a mature warning, so I can't imagine why showing thigh here would. He's covered.
He looks very Asian. Er, which is a good thing since Yagami-kun *IS* Asian, but the manga doesn't draw him looking very Asian for some reason. XD Anyway, in short, he looks Asian. (You look Asian today.) (... As opposed to any other day?)

*laughs* I'm fortunate to not have that mental association.
Hee, yeah.
Good! I wasn't sure, but I wanted to make it clear it was a painting... but the Light painting being in sunlight makes it very different from the rest of the painting already, so it couldn't exactly blend in either way.
Some guys in short-shorts *should* have a warning. Guh.
*...collapses to desk in giggles* That was such a bad quote! My brain was dumb that day. In my defense, you *did* look very Asian. But. I'm glad he looks Asian! I was trying for that a bit. I was trying more for 'sultry' but Asian also works.
Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
In this article I will provide you some ideas how you can build your own homestudio for considerably cheaper price than it would cost to use "official" studio gear. I will also show you few examples where I have used the gear I describe during this article.

Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
